Embed video in
PowerPoint
PowerPoint can insert videos from your device or online sources, depending on your version and account setup. If you are generating the deck first in GeneratePPT, plan the video slide in the outline and add the final media in PowerPoint after export.
Two video paths
- This device: best when you control the file and need offline reliability
- Online video: useful when the source is hosted and stable
- Always test playback on the presenting machine
- Use GeneratePPT to create the story, then add final media in PowerPoint
Insert the video
In PowerPoint, open the target slide, choose Insert, then choose the video option available in your version. Select a video from your device or use an online video option when appropriate.
Set playback options
After inserting the video, select it and review playback settings. Decide whether it starts on click or automatically. Trim the clip if you only need a short segment.
Test before presenting
- Does the video play on the presenting computer?
- Is the file linked or embedded in a way that travels with the deck?
- Is the audio level appropriate?
- Do you have a fallback screenshot or summary if playback fails?
Plan video slides in GeneratePPT
When generating a presentation, add the video purpose to your prompt: "Include a video example slide after the problem section, with a setup line and a discussion question."
GeneratePPT will help structure the slide. Then export PPTX and add the final video inside PowerPoint.
Keep the slide simple
Video slides need less text than normal slides. Use a headline, the video, and one short instruction. If the audience is watching, they are not reading.
A clean video slide is a presentation asset. A crowded video slide is two messages fighting each other.
