3. Formatting Tips
Use formatting to make your script easier to read under pressure.
Color-code speaker names so you can scan the script instantly.
Use bold for words or lines you really do not want to miss.
Use ( ) for notes, [ ] for directions, or < > for tech cues. They style automatically!
Use italic or custom colors for manual stage directions and timing notes.
4. Setup Tips
Small setup tweaks make a huge difference in how natural you look while reading.
Keep the prompter close to your webcam so your eyes stay on the audience.
Start slower than you think. Speed up only after you find your rhythm.
Break long paragraphs into smaller chunks and highlight cues visually.
Use Dual Screen mode for a mirrored view while your operator screen stays normal.
FAQ
Is this really free?
Yes. It is 100% free to use. Paste your script and launch instantly. No login required.
Can I format my text before launching?
Yes. Select text in the editor and apply bold, italic, underline, preset colors, or a custom color. This is useful for speaker names, non-verbal cues, and timing notes.
Can I use this for Zoom or Google Meet?
Yes. Many people place the prompter window near the webcam and keep their call window nearby so their eyeline stays steady.
Does it save my script?
Your script is saved locally in your browser session to render the teleprompter view. This tool is designed to work without requiring an account.
What are "Smart Cues"?
Smart Cues are automatic styling shortcuts for your script. Instead of manually coloring notes, just wrap them in brackets:
• (Parentheses) for delivery notes (e.g., tone or emotion).
• [Brackets] for physical stage directions.
• <Angle Brackets> for technical cues (e.g., camera changes).
The prompter will automatically gray them out or color-code them so you can see them at a glance without accidentally reading them out loud.
How does Dual Screen work?
Click Dual Screen to open a synchronized second window. Drag this new window to your teleprompter monitor or a secondary screen. You can now control the speed and formatting from your main laptop screen while the talent reads perfectly synced text off the secondary monitor.
What is Mirror mode for?
Mirror mode flips the text horizontally, which is required if you use a physical teleprompter glass rig. If you are using Dual Screen mode, a special "Mirror Remote" button will appear. This allows you to flip the text on the talent's glass screen, while keeping the text on your operator laptop perfectly readable.
