Add audio to
Google Slides
Google Slides can use audio files stored in Google Drive. This guide covers the workflow, the settings to check, and how to plan narration or music when your deck starts in GeneratePPT.
What you need
- An audio file uploaded to Google Drive
- Correct sharing permissions for the presenter account
- Playback settings for click, autoplay, loop, and volume
- A slide plan that makes the audio useful, not distracting
Upload audio to Google Drive
First, upload the audio file to Google Drive. Common formats depend on current Google Slides support, so test the file before you build the whole deck around it.
Once uploaded, confirm that the file is accessible from the account you will use to present.
Insert the audio
In Google Slides, open the slide, choose Insert, then Audio. Select the file from Google Drive and place the audio icon where it will not distract from the slide content.
Set playback behavior
Select the audio object and review the format options. Decide whether it should start on click or automatically. For background music, consider whether it should loop and whether the volume should be reduced.
Audio checklist
- Use click-to-play for audio clips you need to introduce.
- Use autoplay only when the timing is predictable.
- Lower volume for background music.
- Test the slideshow from start to finish before presenting.
Plan audio in the deck brief
When creating a deck in GeneratePPT, include audio intent in the prompt. For example: "Create a training deck with one narration cue per section and a recap slide after each audio clip."
Generate the structure in GeneratePPT, export PPTX, import to Google Slides, then attach the final audio files there.
